The CPRP senior project collaborator is Professor Michael McGovern of the University of Michigan.  Dr. McGovern is the former Director of the West Africa Project of the International Crisis Group (ICG), in Dakar, Senegal.  He has extensive experience and networks across all four countries of the Mano River region.  Dr. McGovern¿s important book Making War in Côte D¿Ivoire was recently published by the University of Chicago Press (2011); his second book, on the cultural politics of a socialist West African state, Unmasking the State:  Making Guinea Modern, is now in press.  He has authored three ICG security and strategic analysis reports concerning Liberia, one on Côte d¿Ivoire, and two about Guinea. 

Dr. McGovern was the primary co-organizer for the January 2009 SARR conference in Monrovia which included top UN officials and Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
